Sunshine, relaxation and a nice glass of wine paired with a snack are all essentials when gathering with friends. Today, we’re talking about something different – yes, you may have guessed it – wine and junk food. Next time you have a few friends over for drinks, skip the charcuterie board and go for wine and junk food. Check out this blog for some ideas!

Popcorn and Chardonnay

Pair your popcorn with a Chardonnay. The butter helps draw out the smooth undertones of a Chardonnay and since both are light in body,  they will compliment each other perfectly.

Jalapeno Poppers & Riesling

Poppers aren’t just for the super bowl and while they are a popular type of finger food, many of us haven’t paired wine with them! A riesling is best for jalapeno poppers since it offers just enough sweetness to balance out the spice and creamy-ness of your snack.

BBQ Chips & Pinot Noir

The smoky flavor in BBQ chips pairs well with a light Pinot Noir. This earthy wine mellows the spicy flavor of the chip, producing a surprisingly savory balance that you will be going back to!

Nachos & Malbec

If you’re asking if this is good, the answer to this question is, without question, “yes!” Who doesn’t want to eat nachos with their Malbec? The salty tortilla chips (and other toppings if you so desire) need a wine to pair with so that can take on all the flavors without getting lost. This is where a Malbec comes in- the vibrancy is equipped to handle all the salt (and spice from the jalapenos you may have put on your nachos!).

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups & Cabernet Sauvignon

Smooth, rich, salty and sweet. There just aren’t enough ways to describe why this is one of our favorite’s from this list. The fruity flavors in the Cabernet compliment the richness of a peanut butter cup. Sign me up – and all your friends!
