With summertime in full swing, thoughts turn to grilling and long, lazy meals under the open sky. Good things come in threes,so here are three BBQ pairings for you and the perfect wine pairing! Put down that beer, fire up the grill and grab your favorite wine.
Red Wine and Sweet Pork Ribs
On hot days, you’re going to want something cool to drink. We feel you. But if you love red wine, there’s no need for you not to pair it with some sweet pork ribs off the grill. Fall off the bone ribs pairs best with Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec.
Burgers and White Wine
Burgers are the classic barbecue meal we see served, and we never tire of them because you can make them so many different ways.
The burger meat’s heaviness and cheesy toppings help break through a little bit of the wine’s acidity. Let’s also not forget about a white bubbly – ideal for lightening up salty foods.
Hot Dogs & Rosé
No matter how you like to dress your hot dogs – mustard or ketchup (or both) it’s going to be pretty salty. Because of the saltiness, you’re going to want to try a dry sparkling rosé with your hot dog.
Hot dogs are typically salty and hearty, so they need a wine with acid. Many wines could work, but it’s best to avoid Cabernet Sauvignon and stick to wines with acidity and some sweetness!
