Bring out the sweaters and boots, the fall season has arrived. Fall brings football season, apple picking, pumpkin season, crisp air, colorful leaves and the crackle of a roaring fire. Imagine yourself cuddled up in front of a warm fire with a blanket, good book and delectable glass of wine. There are a variety of wines that are excellent choices for the fall season.

  • 2011 Maple Ranch Foris Vineyards Pinot Noir – Foris Vineyards has been producing wine in Oregon since 1974. Their 2011 Maple Ranch Pinot Noir is perfect for the fall season due to notes such as maple, lilac, cedar, cardamom, clove, black cherry and boysenberry.
  • 2010 Carpe Diem Anderson Valley – This crisp, clean, complex light Chardonnay has notes of honey, apple, oak and pear. This wine has soft tannins and is excellent when consumed in its youth.

  • 2010 Mastrojanni Rosso di Montalcino – Easily approachable, this Sangiovese wine has notes of plum and ripe cherry. It has a pleasant tangy and tannic finish.
  • 2011 Clos de la Riolette Fleurie – This tannic and structured wine has notes of licorice, plus spicy, smoky aromas.
  • 2010 Barjon Differente – This enjoyable wine has silky smooth tannins with subtle spices such as cinnamon and blackberry. It’s layered with vanilla and oak plus has aromas of raspberries and blueberries. This wine is great when paired with a few bites of dark chocolate.
